Sewing Tip: Connecting Bias Strips

Cutting bias strips from fabric is not very difficult but sometimes sewing them together can be a challenge. I have found that the most fool-proof way to sew together strips of bias tape is to:

 1) Cut the ends of each strip straight and overlap with fabric right side to right side. Mark a diagonal line from top left corner to bottom right corner and pin. The overlap is what makes this method easy and successful!

2) Sew together - there is no need to backstitch, but you can if you want to.

3) Trim the seam allowance to about 1/4 inch and press open.

4) Trim the extra fabric pieces that stick out or leave them. The bias tape is now ready to be used in your sewing project!
