Dressmaking for Kids is for the child who loves fashion and wants to learn more about how to sew clothes! Each month offers a different garment focus and will teach students how to construct garments that include more challenging details and techniques e.g. casings, zippers, facings, pockets, etc.

November Garment FocusPants - we will make jogger-style pants and learn how to add pockets, a fabric waistband with elastic, and ankle bands. This project will also teach students how to sew with knit/stretchy fabric. If time allows, students can make a pair of pajama pants.

Skill Level: advanced beginner and beyond

Dates and Times NOVEMBER 2018: 


  • October 6, 13, 20

  • 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Age Group: For girls and boys ages 8 and older (project may be adjusted for skill and ability of student)

Fee: 3-class series is $75

Fabric Requirements: you can purchase a materials kit for $30 or bring your own fabric.

  • Jogger Pants: 1.25 yards of fabric for pants—French terry, ponte knit, interlock, double knit

    • 1/2 yard of rib knit fabric for waistband and ankle bands (coordinate or contrast)

    • 1 yard of elastic that is 1.25” wide

  • Pajama Pants: 1.5 yards of woven fabric (cotton, flannel, or fleece)
