Dressmaking for Tweens/Teens

Dressmaking for Tweens & Teens is for students who want to learn how to sew clothes. This 2-part class will teach students basic skills for sewing a raglan top and a skirt, tunic, or shorts (student choice).

Skill Level: advanced beginner and beyond (Intro to Sewing and basic sewing machine experience is a required prerequisite)

Sizing Range for Patterns: Chest: 28"-34.5", Waist: 24.5"-28", Hip: 30"-37"

Dates & Times - APRIL 2018: 2 classes that are each 2 hours long.

Age Group: 10-16

Fee

  • $70 for the 2-class series only, does not include the book and students will need to provide their own fabric (see requirements below). Students can use a studio copy of the book.

NOTES

  • Please PRE-WASH all fabric
  • We will be using the book "Ms. Figgy's Garment School for Girls".

SEWING PROJECTS & FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

  • All students will sew a Raglan Top 1 1/2 yards of knit fabric (interlock is recommended or a jersey knit that is not too thin)
  • Student can choose to make a skirt or tunic:
    • Skirt: 1 1/4 yards of woven/cotton fabric, 3/4"-wide elastic that measures 1" smaller than your waist measurement
    • Tunic: 2 yards of knit fabric or 2 1/3 yards for a longer tunic (interlock is recommended)

Please pre-wash all fabric before brining to class.
