The Sewing for Teens workshop series will focus on basic garment construction. This is a fun class for the teen and tween who loves fashion and wants to learn more about how to sew clothes! Students will explore design and construction of tops, pants, skirts.
PREREQUISITE: Students must have taken Intro to Sewing for Kids or have basic sewing experience to be able to sew independently on a sewing machine.

SKILLS FOCUS - students will practice and learn the basics of
- how to construct and sew a basic top
- how to construct and sew a skirt
- how to measure and adjust fit
- how to baste
- how to finish seams
- how to insert a zipper
Fabric Requirements for Fashion Sewing for Teens:
TOP 1 1/4 yards of cotton fabric*, one 9" all-purpose polyester zipper, one package of single-fold bias tape in a coordinating color to fabric
*If you select fabric with a 60" width, then you only need to buy 1 yard.
PANTS 2 1/4 yards of cotton fabric, 1" wide elastic--enough to go around waist comfortably
SKIRT 1 1/2 yards of knit fabric* (purchase 2 yards for a maxi skirt)
*Knit fabric is the same as the stretchy fabric used for t-shirts and maxi skirts. Please purchase interlock knit or a knit with a thicker weight. Avoid the tissue-thin fabric as it is difficult to sew for beginners.
